Fork compression damper adjuster siezed

Hi,
Just fitting new fork seals and oil. But one of my compression damper adjuster screws is siezed.
While strpped down can you remove and unsieze the adjuster screw?
Any thoughts?

It happened to mine some time ago. took the forks off and laid them flat and supported the legs so the screw was level and sprayed WD40 penentrating fluid on them twice a day for 3 days and let it soak in. Then use a large screwdrive with the blade almost an exact fit and twisted them left and right slowly to free them. It worked but was slow work.diesel works well also to free them. I used that on Thundercat one successfully a few years ago using the same precedure.

Use a good pen oil and take it slow. If you try to remove the fitting be very careful as it has a very fine thread and strips and cross threads easy.

wd40 is not a penetrating fluid, you need something like plus gas or similar, some heat can also help, just be careful.

Never said it was, :eek  I said WD40 Penentrating fluid which is  a different product.  :rolleyes
Look it up its proper name is "WD40 Specialist Fast release Penetrant" Smile

New seals and oil fitted, I have put 5w fork oil in as per spec in Haynes manual and it seems to be sitting a bit lower when off the stand and me on it.
Have I missed something?
Bushes were fine, spring length ok, just seems a spongey. I've not ridden yet though!

did you make sure all the air was out of the oil? as per Haynes manual

Yeah done to the book, didn't change bushes as they looked fine.
Might try the oil again?
Failing that I might need to do the bushes.

Sussed it, whoever had done springs years ago had knocked bush on damper cartridge over retaining clip, sorted now and doesn't bang anymore when I get the front wheel off ground.

I have the same seized adjuster problem. Are we saying that it is possible to remove the adjusters? Presumably one will lose oil if removing them? Do they go back in straightforwardly (bearing in mind the warning about threads)? Is there any point in removing the adjuster anyway?
