Becomes an EU country tomorrow, which presumably means that we can ride there with 3rd party insurance under a normal UK policy. Anybody been, or planning to go on their bike? Looks like my kind of country - a capital city, lots of beach and bollocks to countryside :lol
I've been to Dubrovnik, lovely place and really nice people. We hired scooters when we out there and I kinda regretted it - driving standards are pretty poor, so be careful. Also stayed at Mljet, again really pretty but be careful...

Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."

Perhaps the most beautiful seaside. Worht seeing. Lots of nice beaches, islands. A bit more expensive than Greece I think, but very very nice.
Most things done in a hurry need to be done again - patiently.
I was thinking of going there 2011 but my insurance company wanted extra dosh just for 3rd party cover. This year its already included. In June 2011 I got as far as Slovenia and met a couple of blokes who had gone there and said is was a fanastic ride down the coast but very hot.
Hopefully I'm going in September. Plitvice lake district is also supposed to be very nice.

Plitvice is a breathtaking place - definitely worh visiting.
Heat? Mesh jacket, mesh trousers - anything else is too hot. Get a warm layer for crossing mountains, or just in case, but by the sea it is hot. If there was no fear of falling, you could ride in a t-shirt easily.

the signs warning of minefields were a little disquieting and the empty villages with bullet/artillery riddled walls was also worrying.
the road from senj up into the mountains is fan-bloomin-tastic, as is the whole coast road. last time i went there you didn't need a helmet on a m/bike, hopefully that will have changed.

The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!

Istra is the coolest place - the smallest percentage of nationalists. Really nice cool people. Good mixture of northern Italian and Slavic mentality.

Sounds like a great idea, if it wasn't for boy / wife / house I'd be up for it.
