front brake service question

Hi,
serviced both front brakes today.
After clearing all the crud off the pistons I polished them with Autosol.
Shiny or what, they move in/out so easy.


That were the problem started, one fell out and brake fluid went all over the floor.
I pushed the piston back in very easily.


Can I bleed the brakes now knowing there could be a little brake fluid between the fluid seal and the dust seal.


Or should I pull out the pot (loose ALL the brake fluid) and dry between the two rubbers and re-insert the pot and add new fluid and bleed brakes.


what should I do now.......

wouldn`t worry mate. bear in mind main seal is a pressure seal, hence it being a lot thicker and robust compared to dust seal ( lot thinner ) what you may find over a couple of days is minor weepage out onto piston / rear of pads. just wipe it off if any as it possibly works its way past the dust seal if any. what is bugging me is you say how easy they move !. there are easy and too easy !! if it was me i`d possibly be thinking about possible wear on pressure seals. yes, they obviously need to move `easy` but not too much....just food for thought and my ramblings, sorry !!! :lol

yes, that did cross my mind.......they most probably are too smooth and shiny now...........need to rub them up with some 40 grit w and d now.............no no no no, only kidding :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

Yes I was thinking the Autosol has put a really smooth finish on the pots.

I have a three line braided hose kit on order.


So may wait till Monday before filling.

i always clean the pistons with a scotch pad and brake fluid as a lubricant.rinsing with more brake fluid....a bit messy but works for me    and no contamination

Red rubber grease is your friend here......
