so i have a fazer 1000 2002 and the motor is probably dead.
so i dont find a motor to replace it....
can i use a lets say R1 motor????
does someone have sogestions???
I don't know for sure, but as far as I know your Fazer has an R1 engine with smaller carbs, different clutch and head. I would expect it would bolt in place. Ignition system I'm not sure but likely to be the same.
Sorry to hear about your "dead" motor :'(
where does the muffler go?
R1 motor is different, mainly due to the R1 using downdraft carbs as opposed to side drafts like the FZS1000 does.
If you are in the U.K and want a 2nd hand FZS1000 engine drop me a P.M.
Chitsu
Yup. It may use the same architecture as the R1 (bore, stroke, dimensions) but it's a different engine if truth be told.
To the best of my knowledge, no-one has ever fitted an R1 motor to a Fazer 1000. Too many differences in frame and engine mounts, not to mention the airbox etc etc.
"Motor is probably dead" - some more info would help here (mileage, problems, service history etc), to determine if it's worth repairing.
Should be enough Fazer 1000's in breakers yards etc that might be salvagable, without going to a different motor altogether
well i live in israel and there are no fzr1000 motors to find here...
ill probebly try to fix it
because i dont have a choise ....
You still haven't said what you think is wrong with it.
OK Im going to ask !
If you dont know whats wrong with the motor why are you looking to replace it ?
it might be a nothing job might be motor out job
but untill you know whats wrong its all speculation !
surley you'd be better off finding out first ?

Agreed
If you go to the doctor and say theres something wrong with you, he will say what is wrong, what are the symptoms?, if you say i dont know then he isnt gonna be able to help you, well unless your leg is hanging off with blood pouring out :lol
So does your engine have a massive hole in it or has it melted or has it just stopped working.
Provide some symptoms & the guys here will no doubt provide some assistance.
Could be a happy ending :thumbup
Easiest way to go fast........don't buy a blue bike
Good one,Noggy! Communication is what its all about-I am sure we would all like to help if we can but give us a clue please, alonsho! :lol
I don't want to sound cruel, but if you are having problems diagnosing what is wrong with your current bike, what possible chance do you think you have sticking in the engine from a different bike. If it is beyond your personal skills, bring it to a shop. If they cant fix it, or want to charge too much, then dump it for what you can and get something you can afford.
guys before i talked to you i was in a shop...
and the guy said it would be better to find a motor
cause just to open and find whats wrong is expensive enough....
so i looked for a motor but ther is non at my country
so i looked at ebay and it wouldent be cheep at all....
so i thought maybe to find a nother competible motor....
still dont know what to do...
Ask the guy in the shop to give you a list or summary of what is wrong with the engine, then post details up here.
It might be a new top-end as opposed to a whole engine (tho still expensive). It might be my old friend, the waterpump dying.
But it sounds like its going to be expensive no matter what option you go for, and no other Yamaha engine bolts in.
Surely Fex Ex or some other service could ship an engine on a pallette for a reasonable price?

mash lom ka?
you are lucky indeed to have a thousand bike in israel, all i saw there was gs500 motors!
