Welcome along  8)

As you have said, I can only imagine it was done so that they didn't have to swap the whole unit for an MPH one.

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

More normally you'd install a converter module in the connection box that makes the speedo read mph.
I guess this is a cheaper way of doing it!

Classy  :eek

If it ain't broke I guess.  Cheaper than the alternatives.
Opinions are like A**holes, Everyone has one.  Some people seem to have more than one though which is a bit odd.

Mine was the same, paper went bubbly and when I first got speedo working I thought something desperate wrong with the mileage count, just kph was the answer. Is a cheap way of doing it alright but it works

Won't work for the odometer or Trip I guess.

Is the bike an import? Probably is if the clocks are in KPH - at least you know the mileage and can set the new clocks to the same for continuity.

its a strange one folks ,, i have yet to get v5 back from dvla so dont know if its import or not ,, hpi does not show anything other than  date of reg as  .7 .2000

so here is the best bit i have every mot since 2006 .. it now shows 48,000 on the clock ,,, and in 2006 it was 16410 ... if the clocks are in kph that means the bike has only done around 25000 miles and all these years its been getting an mot in mhp as mileage reading lol :'(

still leaves me with a set of clocks that need a face as this one is all faded and lifting inside ,,,  or do i shell out for mph clocks  :rolleyes
