Good Buy?
#1
I appear to have bought a foxeye Fazer.  Went to see it, high-ish mileage but actually a very nice bike.  Thought I'd have a punt, can't believe I got it so cheap.

A good buy??

I plan to nick the stainless exhaust and double-bubble for my bike, clean it up, and flog it on.

Looks ok, but missing the fron decals crack is in line with any fall on the side. Do you know what is the engine rattle in it is? Would not consider 31000 high mileage for a fazer

Yeah, I noticed the decals to.  Mine has a crack in exactly the same place from twatting the indicator on the shed door, no signs of a fall.

Rattle sounds like very mild cam chain.  To be honest it sounds like a Fazer!  The guy obviously mentioned it to prevent any come backs, but it really isn't any worse than my 15,000 miler.

I started panicking that it must be a total loss, so just ran an HPI check (after the horse has bolted).  Absolutely clean on every category.

I was watching this too but ended up getting one that finished on Thursday, 12000 miles but double what you payed.
My mk1 did 120,000 miles so don't worry about 30....!
Some say...

Yeah, last year I paid £1,800 for a 2002 with 13,000 miles on it.  And looking at prices I'd probably get that back  now (once I replace/repair the fuel tank I dropped while servicing it!).

Chap dropped the bike round last night so have spent a bit of time seeing what I've bought.

Quickly tried cleaning the "stainless" downpipes but there appears to be a good deal of corrosion.  Also one of the flanges which hold the downpipes to the engine is cracked, but it's not blowing.  Overtightened I guess.

Viper end can sounds nice though.

The guy fitted a £300 Hagon Monoshock, and then didn't spend an hour setting it up  The last MOT even advises it's too soft and saggy.  Job for the weekend.

Engine has been out at some time and put back by somebody who has no idea how Fazer cables and looms run.  Easily sorted.

Braided hoses, wavy rear disc, double bubble.  Will make a nice bike.  Unless I just polish it and flog it!!
