Hiya Guy's,
Could some one help me out please, I've changed the horn of my 2001 Fzs 600,the one I've put on is off a volksvagon golf, now what's concerning me ,Is that the golf horn might be drawing more power than the wiring harness can manage, I've used the horn with the lights on, with no dimming of the lights or different note from the engine. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Rivett . :\
Unlikely to be a problem, unless it's a whacking great airhorn

you use the horn that much and for that long ?
The power draw for that period of time is a worry only for the fuse rather than the wiring imo

Thanx guys, there's a lot of deaf myopic people here in Nottingham, I just want to be ready ,

Thanx again

You've obviously not seen the truck air horn mods people on here do. They're mental. Will post a link. If in doubt, use a relay.
Watch out for the back wheel on the damn tram rails in nottm, they've had me off before...

To be honest Simonm, that's the horn I've got, yesterday I tried all day to find a place for it ( on the bike that is ),eventually I gave up ,kicked next doors cat and put the golf horn on,
There's no space you can seem to put it .God knows how much I've spent on cable and fuses and stuff. I'll have another go soon,
Cheers Bud
I made a fella do a wonderful breakdancing move yesterday morning on the way to work.
He just casually walked straight out onto the road without looking as i was leaning turning into a road.
And he can't just say he didn't see me 'cos my indicator beepers are loud enough anyway, it was pure ignorance.
But a good old blast on the airhorn had him doing Michael Jackson moves in no time to get out of the way, as it sounds like a train approaching :lol

Hey darrsi, is it a stebel nautilus you have on yours?, if so where have you mounted it ?, There's nothing like watching people do the funky chicken as you wake the pillocks up is there?.
I got a stebel magnum and mounted that where the OEM horn fits.
Not as loud as the nautilus but loud a foccing nuff.

There are loads of posts on the forum showing where these can be mounted. I don't think any of the locations are pretty, but you I'm sure you can shoehorn it in somewhere :lol

Yeah mine is the Stebel Nautilus, there's an old picture of my bike in the link simonm has provided.
I put it under the left infill panel.

I have a similar model to this installed on my bike. Compressor fit under the tank. The original horn wires restricted the location of the relay, but it fit nicely right under the top part of the tank. All the wiring is nicely tucked away out of sight. All that was left was to use cable ties to attach the horns under left infill where the original horn was at and attach the air hose between the compressor and horns. Installed a 15A fuse and Voila! Instant cager wake-up alarm! :lol And it's foccing loud.

The reason i ended up putting the beeping indicator gadget on was purely because everytime i went to turn into my road going home from work there would be someone about to step out in front of me, and whenever i let the airhorn go i never knew whether they were gonna run forwards or backwards so it all became a bit too unpredictable for comfort.
Either that or the horn would simply frighten the life out of them, but in fairness they never take the time to look around when they cross my road.
So with the indicators at least it gives them a bit more of a subtle hint that i'm there.
If they don't do the trick then it's dancing time, and a sly grin from me.
All in the name of safety of course. :lol

An alternative to the Stebel horns are the twin dual-tone PIAA sports horns which I have fitted. I've fitted them underneath each infill panel with a relay. They fit discreetly and are bloody loud, nice tone too. I have the higher tone 500+600hz. Mine also have weather shields so water ingress is minimised. Have run them through some crappy weather over winter with no issues.
