It would be nice to see a headline saying that police are going to "educate" car drivers for once.

No sign of them this morning along the routes mentioned. Maybe a 7.30 start on a Sunday was too early for them?

I was rather hoping to be stopped as I've heard they sometimes give out free high vis stuff : )

Still, took it nice and steady along the routes mentioned as it was cold and still frosty. No speed limits broken.

Saw a nasty accident on the A5 near Oswestry on the way back.

Came around a corner to see a car on it's side having veered off the road and hit a substantial tree at what must have been 50-60mph if he was moving with the traffic. Very mangled.

Didn't see it myself but it'd just happened a minute or two ago - few cars stopped on either carriageway, dust cloud still settling.

No other vehicle involved, sounded like he must have lost concentration and simply driven off the road. Mobile perhaps, although that's speculation.

He seemed OK, cut to the head but being well attended by others at the scene.

Helped the guy on the phone to advise ambulance service where precisely we were, then went on our way. Standing around gawping helps no-one.
