Which one would you go for?
#1
Been to see some FZ1 Fazers today and narrowed it down to 2, budget is no more than £5k plus my 2002 FZ600 in part ex (owned from new so full everything plus some extras but in good 'used' condition)

The choices are:

2009 1 owner FZ1 Fazer with 10k miles in good nick but the usual corrosion starting on exhaust headers and shock top. £5700

or

2007 3 owner FZ1 Fazer with 7.5k miles in same nick with slightly less corrosion in the same places. £4700

I can't decide between the two...

#2.

Its cheaper, has less mileage and is in slightly better condition. The only thing that #1 has going for it over #2 is it has less owners. The age thing is neither here nor there as they are probably the same model anyway.

If #2 has a good history with it and both keys etc i would say go for it. Just make sure you have shopped around 1st. If you are undecided on either then maybe neither of them is the bike for you and you should wait for the right one to come up. I have always been 100% sure when buying any vehicle in the past. You seem to just know when its right  Wink
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???

I'd say the older of the two bikes looks better with money left over for personalisation, but make sure you HPI check whichever you get. Then enjoy it!

I would look for one with ABS... Wink

After owning my first bike with ABS I don't think I would ever want to buy a bike again that did not have ABS

Neither personally, I'd buy a low milage mint gen 1 for about £3k, totally sort the suspension out (1k ish, unless you got an ebay bargain), and it ivanised (£200 ish). Voila, a lovely handling, going bike that actuall has a decent tank range and mpg!  :lol

They seem a little pricey to me, have you had a good look around? I bought an 07 FZ1 - SA (ABS) model with 10k and many many extras for £5k but that was 2 years ago.

I haven't kept up with residuals of course but I reckon there are better deals out there

The best value is #2 although I do always prefer to have as new a bike as possible but not for £5700 so I think i'd choose number #2 :thumbup

It only has to save your bacon once and it will have paid for itself ..

Regarding what bike if there was big improvement between the years than 09 bike but as there's very little I'd go with the 1k saving and 07 bike, if you plan on keeping it long term than the previous owners makes no odds .

Gen 1 is a very good bike but it will never be as sharp as a gen2 and looks dated now unless you do this .

If no 2 is the same nick, then thats the one. If you can get no1 down to 5K then I'd go for that.
However if they are at dealers and you need to trade in then you are looking at how much to change against each one.

Personally i would buy a gen 1, but if i was to pick one of your choices i would pick the 2007 model. I think that both are a bit pricey.....
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
