Took my fazer to the shop today to have a new engine coolant temp sensor fitted after being told on the phone it would be done whilst I waited as I had previously told them I can not be without a bike.
When I arrived I was told I'd have to leave my bike over night! Long story short they gave me a ninja 300 with 106 miles on the clock.
It now has 168 miles on the clock as I made the most of the setting sun. It's light weight and handles great, soon gets to 90 too but doesbt have much left after that.
Looks pretty good, I imagine it gets pretty good fun and good MPG too but if you want a sportsbike then surely you'd go for a bigger capacity.. Like having a car that looks like a lambo and goes like a diesel fiesta... haha.

I know, the bastards. And to boot, our beloved Fazers are no good for A2 license holders.
The Fazer 600 has a nominal power production of 95bhp. But 2 x 35kW = 93.872bhp. And knowing our current legislation, that 1.3 extra horsepower will be enough to prevent it from being rideable for new riders.
The scariest thought of all - two speeding tickets, and I won't be allowed to ride my Fazer, even after restest! :'( :'(
A reduction of less than 1kW (0.93 to be precise) would make bugger all difference to the othger market but makes it more saleable to the likes of ChristoT who have the 25kW limit.
The advantage ChristoT (and my eldest have) is that under their licences, they CAN ride a bike that is restricted down from more than 2x the limit.

Indeed! I have a friend on a 2002 VFR800 - I think that produces about 110hp stock!!

Sure, but IMO it's a perception issue. If some lad sees that this bike is ok for "restricted" riders, he's likely to think "I want a big boys' bike" and go for something else, even though, as you mention, the power difference is negligable.

I think you'll find that that bike is made for the new licensing laws which came into effect on January 19th
