Did my carb rubbers last week
now though, everytime i get the carbs back on and tighten them up, they pop out on one side.
ive tried a wratchet strap , but same story.
any tricks to keep the bastards on?! :'(
If they're popping out then you must not have them pushed in all the way. Try putting them in at an angle with the top going in first and then push down on them them. A small bit of lube will also help.
Make sure they're pushed in as far as possible, as any leaks will cause hesitation on acceleration.
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
Yeah, it requires a bit of grunt to get them in. I used a light soap-water-mix for lube (an older gentleman advised me on this, it'll dry up in the heat rather than using oil) and had a friend to help push them in. If I recall correctly, we got one side in first and then the other, while applying pressure on both sides, to make sure neither pops out. Kind of tricky procedure, much easier on the Thundercat, where gravity is on your side and you have more room to work with.
done this a few times :rolleyes :rolleyes .....i find it easier to push onto the air filter side first as these rubbers are more flexable than the others...rest all four carbs on the bottom lip first ( a bit of lube helps ) and then twist round to get the tops in wriggling as you go,nice and easy being careful the rubbers dont turn in on themselves, then do up the four julibee type clips before starting on the head rubbers,a bit more lube and again resting on the bottom lip first and then push up an in.......as easy as that :lol :lol ...it takes paitence...many a time i`ve walked away from the job swearing only to return the following day and they almost fall into place........good luck and dont forget to let us know how it go`s
One, is never going to be enough.....
it's always much more slippierer with lube :evil .

a very thin layer of neat fairy liquid for me every time... had to learn the hard way!! :eek
I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!
i'll try the fairy liquid trick, and got a mate coming over tomorrow to help me push them all the way in! (queue dirty minded peeps)
Best get a big bottle then, don't want friction spoiling the fun ;-)

Make sure the hose clamps are open just to the end of the screws and they need a good push, just be careful you do not push the bike of the centre stand.
They are probably cold which makes it more difficult as they are less flexible
Try laying the rubbers in a shallow tray of boiling water, it softens the rubber and they can slip on much easier.
Yes, first time I had them all clean and together at the same time, but forgot to include the most fun bike of all, the serow
