I have modded several xbox's, have a wii, xbox 360, NDS, PSP and a ninja pc (i920,GTX295,8GB) for gaming........ but since having the kids I have no time.  I also find it difficult now to find the enthusiasm since I'm coping with some fairly serious depression/frustration at the lack of meaning in my life.

I've been playing some pretty cool indie games on Steam and have also enjoyed some of the humble bundles too...

Chin up mate - think a lot of folks can struggle with the grumpies this time of year, but summer is on it's way and it'll seem like a whole new world, especially your first season on a bike, you're going to have lots of fun. Soon as weather permits we'll get you out on one of my welsh tours. 8 hours on a bike followed by your fill of real ale will sort you out!

was a pretty hardcore gamer - really started with DOOM single player then multiplayer Counter Strike (on the Beta Version) then moved through Battlefield, Medal of Honour, Farcry.Crysis, Call of Duty....until everything went to shit and now dont play at all.

Well I finally got back home last night to find StarCraft had arrived a day early which was awesome Big Grin

Unfortunately got a bit sidetracked with Sim City and ended up playing until 5am this morning... so far its pretty good and my only real niggle is that I wish the cities were a big larger

I do own an Xbox 360 and PS3 but they collect huge amounts of dust as I am predominantly a PC gamer. I do love building new machines but I just don't have the money Sad Current one is 4 years old but still going strong (i7 965X, 12GB DDR3, GTX580) but to be fair, that's what I built it for Wink

Ahh Counter Strike

Started playing from 1.0 on the PC right through to 1.6 and beyond. By the time source came out there were far too many dodgy people and anyone and everyone had figured out the best way to manipulate the console settings. But the old days. Ahh, the old days.
Talking around 2001 or 2002 and headsets had just started going mainstream. I stayed with a mate and we had the LAN set up, prmarily for CS but there were some other good things as well. We got right into Empire Earth for a few months. Sitting regularly til 6 or seven in the mornin.

But the buzz mostly came from counter strike sessions that would last days sometimes.
Unemployment mixed in with part time work and LOADS of hash.

To this day there is no game that can get close to the buzz of being the last man In  the team with near no health and taking out the entire opposition through smart play, quiet movement, some decent aiming and a shitload of luck.  I miss that game. Global offensive has potential to be the best port of it onto console but its useless until they patch it. Which they won't.

I never understood the whole competition thing, I preferred the precast set level thing where I was among against something realistic rather than a spotty teenager hiding somewhere with a snipers rifle.

Reminds me of the cowardice of the u s of a.

Haha

I remember when the updates would be released at like 1am and we'd manage to get a good connection and stay up til somethkng like 4 o clock waiting on the 85meg download finishing.

My mate had a connection with ntl who gave you 56k free with the fone line but only for the first 2 hours so the timer wad always on to get ready to cut it in time.
To teat the download speed and ping of the connection, we'd start downoading a tune on napster. If it was any less than 3.5-4 kbps, we'd disconnect and dial up again to get a better speed. In game we would be happy with a ping of around 200. Any more tjan that it would start lagging out. Totally hilarious. Thankfully broadband started doin the rounds a wee while after that. Pimgs of 20 40 and 60 were always decent. We actually felt the difference hitting american servers where it would rise up to 80. EIGHTY!!!!!!!!!
