My bike is on dyno at the minute and want to get the bike running fairly well but it needed an air filter quickly so I went and got a standard as I'm poor and if I get a k&n I might have to she'll out an extra 100-150 quick to get it jetted with new jets from dyno jet(stage1) so I said bolox to that, don't need an extra 3bhp so went standard. Reasonable at 21 euro, but wait......
It's a hiflo?? Wtf?? Is dat shit standard on these??
i think hiflo is make.......very simular to standard......wouldd have been better to bit the bullet and get k+n

.....should`nt have to re-jet with the hiflo :lol
One, is never going to be enough.....
You just pop the K&N in, that's it, job done.
And if truth be told the Hi-Flo i had was very ill fitting compared to the K&N, and only a few quid less in price.
The K&N will be the last filter you ever buy for the bike!
More people are born because of alcohol than will ever die from it.
Go for the K&N mate, no need to rejet and it'll last longer than the bike will. 8)
I've never had one but heard from everyone that's had a hiflo that it doesn't fit right but the K&N is perfect.

It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.
Pricewise, The Genuine Yamaha filter and a K&N filter can be bought from Ebay for around £30 (if you do your homework and search religiously). The K&N on its own doesn't give a noticeable performance increase but it will pretty much last forever if you clean it once in a while (hardly ever). A Hi Flo filter is a cheap and ill fitting piece of tat that will lose you performance if anything IMO.
Buy Cheap, Buy Twice :rolleyes
Yamaha Fazer 'the only bike you'll ever need' maybe ???
ohhhhhhhhhhhh....us foccers do like a k+n :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol
One, is never going to be enough.....
Not just foccers! Back when I had my Varadero, a common mod was to buy a VW Golf K&N airfilter, which fit almost perfectly into the Vara's airbox. Those who did it spoke highly of it.

Just threw a K&N into mine during the week and balanced the carbs while I was at it, Padraig. I'm also running a motad without baffle. Runs sweet. No need for re-jet. You'd notice a difference to standard. I can post ya up my used standard one. It's relatively clean.
Wel I had to go hiflo, I had 2 hours to get an air filter to him, didn't have 3 days to wait for k&n, he is tuning the bike to run with this filter so not sure if changing to k&n would help afterwords
Cheers packie, i surpose if it runs worse when I put in a better filter I could just throw the hiflo back in??
Hiflo is just a generic copy of the standard disposable filter, Nothing wrong with them and I use them all the time for services on customers bikes that dont have/want K&N or BMCs

Ah right, I surpose it's cheaper for them to stock these aswel rather than stocking genuine stuf that might not sell anyway quick.
Should get bike back tomorrow, wasn't good news so far from dyno, was running so rich it wasn't getting the power band low down and wasn't even letting the 3rd cylinder spark as it was wetting the plug. That was even with the idle screw turned into the bolox
I'm thinking that mine may be running a bit too rich as well... if it doesn't start straight away after its been left for a few days then you can guarantee that it's flooded and you have to wait 5 minutes...
Wel ya could tell mine was fubared as bike was running for an hour and I washed it while it was running and when I sprayed the exhausts they all dried straight away but the 3rd stayed wet :eek??? Yea it was running that bad!!
Drove bike over to the dyno and Ur man heard it coming up the road, he said he thought it was a sick tractor coming up the road, have to admit it was,, and was hunting like a foccer the whole way! I hate that feeling, keeping throttle steady but bike speeds up and slows down by itself
