Does anyone know .....

If it's possible to change the fairing on a 2005 1000, to make it a naked bike ?
What I really like is the look of the Fazer 800, and was wondering if the headlight unit would fit ( if I could get my hands on one )
Failing that anybody fancy px'ing a naked 8 for my 1000 ?

anything can be done....

there's a couple of bikes on here that have been converted to single headlight status - i don't remember usernames however. one was pictured in a layby with what looked like a dual carriage way behind, blue bike, was a good looking conversion. maybe the honourable member will step forward?

on the near side the reg/rec needs re-locating, a relatively straight forward job (so i read on here.) on the off-side the radiator filler cap assembly is exposed once the inner fairing is removed, to my mind this looks unsightly and is what has stopped me performing the conversion on mine.

the front frame headstock strengthening bars are quite exposed and can make the final bike look quite bandit like. to that end a more traditional bandit / zephyr / cb1300 type light and clocks might suit the bike better ...?
is it clean enough?

i am that member, pics are in the gallery, the reg/rec is easily hidden/mounted behind the headlight.

Cheers for that info. Did you use a specific bracket for it? And how did you mount the clocks? Did you come across many problems?

I'm thinking of doing this over summer, am I going to have to worry about this reg/rec thing (what is it)? Also, is there a problem swapping over from twin headlights to single?
