How many miles on a tank !!
#21
Its a bike and its for fun. Who cares what the MPH is. I filled up my FZ1 in London came back to Cambridge on the M11, two up very fast and it was on the reserve. thats about 80 miles on a tank full. On a sensible note, my car that I bought Sep 2011 has now done nearly 40,000 miles. Thats serious petrol bills.

I had similar problems with a multi gauge and went to extreme measures to find out why the gauge and light gives false readings and brought a damaged tank with sender and cut a big hole in the side to see what position the sender lies in when empty and when the sender is at the lowest rest position there is still fuel in the tank as the stock sender cannot read that low down without you bending it, i did exactly this and now my tank is bang on the fuel light comes on when 4ltrs are left, i drained the tank at this point and got exactly 4ltrs.

Think I must have a special small tank on mine, as if I get 150 miles to a tankful, I'm hugely impressed. Can't say I've actually seen those sort of figures. Think I'll have a look at this Fuelly thing and see what it comes up with Smile

i have it on the mobile so just put in the trip meter distance and amount of fuel i fill up with each time i fill up. takes a few seconds .
i do miss the odd fill up but doing it via trip meter instead of odo it dont really mater.

run it on my pick up now to, seeing as i use that now and again for work now.

I get over 50 mpg 95% of the time, average is 52 on a 2001, Stage 1 Ivan's with 24K on't clock. I'm happy with that and keep up with most of the lads.

One year on tour with the boys this dropped to an average of 42mpg but that was fully laden and uncomfortably swift. :eek

So, when touring Scotland this year and finding the Mallaig garage had closed just 10 minutes before we got there, I managed 220 miles out of the tank before refilling at Fort William. I had 4 litres left so could have got up to a range approaching 260-ish at 58mpg. However the 40 miles to Fort Bill at 60 mph is no way to treat the A830. :lol

My buddies on Viffers rolled into the garage with 1 litre remaining! But the BMW 650 rider was disappointed with only 72 mpg.  Different strokes!

Its later than you think

I can safely comment that a nekkid FZ1 with a few mods can manage 29.9 miles on reserve before dying on it's arse.
:o
Light came on around 92ish, which is not to bad for my commute, been known to come on at 85 before.
Average is about 7-8 miles a litre which I think is about 33mpg or there abouts.
:eek

Think I may need to get the map redone as I generally potter about in a nice, smooth manner in 6th...
