Fenda Extenda question
#1
Last winter I was caught in an almighty downpour whilst on the M25 which left me running on only 2 cylinders after the front two plugs got soaked... so I have bought a Fender Extenda.

Is it best to fit them with the supplied screws or is there a better way? And do I need to remove the wheel to remove the front mudguard?

Just installed one with the screws, mudguard comes off without removing the wheel, just undo the four bolts.

No need to remove the wheel. I didn't use the screws on mine I used silicone sealant . Just rub down the extends and the inside of the mud guard with very course sandpaper apply the sealant all over and clamp together for  24 hours. Mine is still rock solid after a year of every day riding.

I hate the idea of putting horrible self-tappers through my mudguard so have always glued extenders on with silicone sealant. I dare say there are plenty of other adhesives that would do the job just as well, just clean the mating area beforehand and roughen with sandpaper to get a decent key.
I didn't bother taking the mudguard off when I did the Fazer, having the wheel in place is handy as you can jam a bit of crumpled newspaper or rag there to maintain pressure while the silicone cures. Gives a nice smooth result and has stayed put for 14 years of all-weather use so far. Smile

Or some good quality double-sided tape. Had good results in the past and it's really easy to do

But 5 years and counting and no screws to be seen  Big Grin Big Grin
Its later than you think
