for me it's 10 years (husqvarna) and it's just been refreshed (again).
(piles of bits in sheds don't count btw!)
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!
Fazer - 2003 Still going strong...
26 years, swapped a rangerover for my T140, 1986 when i was staying in Edinburgh
Nobody is perfect, but being Scottish is a start
KTM Superduke owned from new in 2007. Best bike over owned and doubt I'll part with it any time soon.
Someone sent me a postcard picture of the earth. On the back it said, "Wish you were here."

Nope, comfort isn't one :eek
The Fazer is easier on the rider and quicker over 90 odd mph, parts are cheaper and servicing a whole bunch easier. But the SD is 'better', if I can put it that way, in every other way. But, as in all things motorcycle, it's just my preference and is, therefore, strictly my subjective opinion; big v twins shoehorned in to a mountain bike frame aren't to everyone's taste...

2007- onwards
gen 1 1000
longest i have owned a bike by a long way. longest before this was just under 2 years (XJR1200) and a 955i tiger for 18 months before that pretty much everybike i had i measured in months not years
cant see me swapping the gen 1 untill i can afford a ZX1000sx lol as nothing else fits my needs better than the gen 1 so far
Around the 3 years mark. I've never been one for swapping cars or bikes just for the change.
VFR800 for seven years, loved it but my body was starting to ache...
Hence the Fazer
About three months so far Shortest was the cheapy 125 I bought to practice on which I had 10 days before it blew up, then another two weeks or so til I sold it.
I have had 12 bikes in the last 9.5 years, the longest I have owned one of them was a 2003 Fazer 1000 I had for 14 months.
The shortest would be a Suzuki M800 Intruder which I got knocked off after 6 weeks of ownership and the bike was written off
White FZ8
14 Months - FJR1300. I never keep bikes long - I've had 40 up to now. Mind you, with the recession and the fact that I like the Fazer so much, I doubt that count will go up any time soon.
QUENTIN TARANTINO - HALLOWED BE THY NAME!
Last 7 years I have had 15 bikes (sometimes have 2 on the go) longest was my R1 which I had for a little over 3 years everything else is moved after a year, the only exception was a TDM 850 I kept for 18 months & a TRX I have now had for a year. Can't see the FZ1 going anytime soon loving the bike for me best of everything R1 performance and TDM comfort = Result
i don`t have anything profound or funny to write so .............................
750 Zepyhr bought new in 1991 and still in the garage, currently undergoing full restoration. Money pit maybe but its mine and cant ever be anyone elses now so ownership will be my lifetime however long that is
17 years for my CB250RS. First bike I bought after passing my test and just kept it as a day to day hack. It wasn't used all the time and when not in use it lived in the garden until the frame rotted from the inside (like a lot of Hondas of that era). Fantastic bit of kit and was always there when I needed it.
