Hello
Does anyone know which size spanner/socket is needed for the large nut that secures the front sprocket on a 2001 FZS 600? None of mine are large enough (sockets, not my nuts, of course).
Thanks.

Not sure of the nut size to be honest, but, if you haven't done it already, replace it with the new wider version.

It is 32mm across the flats. 100% sure.
:thumbup Deffo 32mm. I've got the Yam part no. for the updated/improve nut and washer. I'll dig it out if you need it

Got a new nut (the 9 mm deep one) and new lock washer and fitted them yesterday. Out today for a 100 miles before the GP. Amazing the difference: reduced vibration and no issues with low revs running. I was thinking the carbs were out but obviously not. Had to invest in a 32mm socket and half inch breaker bar. Still going to order the deeper 12mm nut and replace it for peace of mind.
I got a new 12mm nut last week - but try as I might I could not budge the fitted smaller one , even with an impact driver and a breaker bar!
Will have to get the bike garage to do it when I can afford it .

Ponkster, there's no chance of your nut coming off as you ride if you can't shift it! Mine had come completely loose and had had all the inner thread worn off by the spindle. Just keep an eye on it.

Had my sprocket done a couple of years ago, took my mechanic 45 minutes to heat it up and eventually remove the older size nut, it was virtually welded on.
It does seem very important to get this newer nut changed sooner rather than later in my opinion.....
