Anyone had experience of the mobile vans that film you head on coming towards them?
Just curious, there was one in front of me this morning parked up in a laybay,,,,,,, :\
Got done by one a fews yrs back on the bike. 80 in a 70. I was doing less than 70, so not overly impressed!! 3pts and a small fine.
Just wondering how they would have got my plate (if they did at all)
Only saw a video cam facing me...
the one that does our area?.....has one at each end!!!!.....crafty bstds dont mean us bikers getting away with it?? :rolleyes
CRH, they only have one camera bit the operator has eyes, a pencil and a notepad so will jot down your number.
Another ex-Fazer rider that is a foccer again
What about average speed cameras? We have a lot just over the forth bridge now, i can only see forward facing unless the other carriage way gets you from behind, but you'd think that would mean a really big field of view for an accurate picture?
We also have just had Bus Lane camera's installed by the local council, they never got of to the best of starts, picking up people before there active time, picking up people crossing the bus lane to enter a street. I think these to are also only forward facing.

scamera vans. if you are unsure if you've been done, stop before the van, tuck your glove over your plate, ride past gently until you are out of sight, remove glove, keep calm and carry on!
The problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money!
Bummer, I'll remember that the next time!
Not even sure what speed I was doing before I saw it but was probably around 55 - 60 indicated then slowed down immediately to 50.....
If you are filmed head on i cannot see how it is possible to read a number plate with the human eye when the bike is travelling at over 100 feet per second and get the reading correct 100% of the time...if you can i would like to see it.

I've seen some vans which have a little dome with a "security camera" stuck on the side, so they'll get the number plate as you go past.

I dont see how this can work unless you did not see the van at all and you stayed over the speed as you went past. So you are over the limit and see the van pointing at you ----youve been got but the picture shows a rider with 60mph inprinted in the readout from the front. so the camera needs to get you from the back because it needs your plate when you go past BUT that print out with speed says 50mph because you saw the van and slowed down so the photo with your numberplate says 50mph

Can I recommend that 1) people do not quote the full spam and 2) the Moderators remove the links that have been quoted even though the original post was deleted because the quoted links will still help the spammer's search engine ranking.

don't know which way this van was facing but it was said they now have 360 degree cameras maybe that was the low def. at the start, might be able to get plate off it?
