Water in carb ???

Hey up, none fazer question "how much water is too much?"
Got a szr660 yamaha, starts up ok on choke but when choke is pushed in the bike still runs but absolutly no power to pull away
Whipped the carb off and found  some water in the carb bowl ,about 1/4 -1/2 teaspoon full and also on draining the tank I found a small ammount in there too.
Can any body come up with owt  else I should be looking for whilst I have it in bits?

does the SZR have a fuel pump and/or filter? could well be water in them too. check also the drain line from the filler cap is not blocked. a cupful of meths in the tank will help separate off the water.
