handle bar wobble

Hello please could anyone tell me why my handle bars wobble really bad if i leave them go at about 25 to 30 mph thank you all again,this has got to be the best site out there.

They all do that. Honest. Check you've a reasonable front tyre pressure and don't worry.

Sounds like your front wheel needs balancing or may be a warped disc

This is common and can be down to low pressures of more often a worn front tyre.

Simple solution is not to let go of the handlebars. As long as there's no serious pulling or wobble whilst normal riding then it's not a problem :thumbup

This is a common fault which is easily cured......


Don't let go of your bars.... ( As the wee meerkat would say...... Simples ! )


Seriously, much the same as the others have stated check your tyre pressures and wear ect.

However, I get the exact same symptoms on my Fazer at exactly 40 mph but only if the top box ( either full or empty) is on ????

I’ve had my Fazer for years and never suffered from the “Fazer 40mph Wobble”
Until the day I did a quickie chain adjustment.

I went for a ride and there it was the wobble!

the only other thing I’d done was a quick chain adjust, slack wheel spindle move adjusters a couple of flats each tighten wheel spindle.

In the past I’ve always used a string line and a packer (1/2 the difference between the tyre widths), to check the alignment, I checked the alignment and it was out.
Readjusted the wheel alignment went out on bike wobble gone.
So I think its down to wheel alignment.
By the way when Fazer wheels are correctly aligned, the alignment marks stamped on the swing-arm are half an alignment mark out.

Im with you Baz. Under normal riding I get no wobble. If I have luggage rack or pillion on board I get it bad. I always figured it was due to weight distribution being shifting towards the rear.

I have found that mine wobbles a lot more when the rear-tyre is squared-off. It also affects handling on roundabouts (slow speed tight corners).

Its something to do with how the bike 'auto-leans' when it corrects for deviations from a pre-determined line as the front end casters.
It has to climb up the 'corner' on the rear-tyre suddenly and it can "fall down" just as suddenly.

I cure this problem by puting it on its centre-stand in 2nd gear with the engine running and take a coarse file (rasp) to shave a few mm off the rear tyre each side where the corner forms.
(since you clearly aren't going to use that bit of rubber, it doesn't matter)

It gets worse, of course, if you bat down a motorway at 90 a lot. :\

My GSXF used to wobble like crazy until i got a new tyre/the wheels balanced.
