FZ1-SA tail light numberplate illumination
#1
Hi all
Just move up from an FZR600 to an 09 plate FZ1-SA. :lol Loving it big time - even after a very cold collection ride from London to Tamworth to London on a very cold and frosty Saturday morning. Question is, the bike has original Yam hard panniers and fixings with the indicators wired in line with the number plate. However, I cannot work out why there is no provision to light the number plate. The main tail light does not have a white/clear down facing section (and is too far away)and the additional brake light further back is just that - a brake light. Is it me?

Just guessing that the original rear fender with the number plate light on has been removed ?

I think the rear lighting system is all original - but have not come across too many OEM hard luggage kits yet to compare

The number plate is on the rear fender (Black mud guard)

You can see the number plate light sticking out between the indicators in this picture

I think what happened on your bike is someone has changed the number plate light to an extra red tail light....To be seen better with the panniers fitted..

Thanks for the replies and picture which helps a lot.
It looks like they have replaced the tail light you have to be a 2nd stop light which really works well - however, this means that the bike no longer has a number plate light. This mystifies me on 2 counts - I am fairly sure that the the hard luggage rack system is Yamaha's own ( the hard luggage certainly is), the bike was MOT'd by the main dealer just before I collected it (she's just under 3 years old so it would be the first MOT).
I don't know but shouldn't this be part of the MOT check?
