Cape Town tips please
#1
I am landing in Cape Town on Thursday morning and my friend isn't arriving 'til the evening - with the keys to his house - so I have a day to spend in Cape Town just me & my rucksack. Any top tips? both on teh best way to get into town from the airport and what to do during the day after a tiring overnight flight in scum class.

when my mate was in Capetown he was told to make sure he had a certain amount of cash on him so if he kills any one he can buy the police off.

is that a help?  Big Grin

Recomend registered cab from airport into town, the newish dual carraigeway into town appears to pass through one of the shanty townships on the way through.

I'd recommend you read this thoroughly.  Ignore the terrorism bit.  It's a general clause so the FO doesn't get slagged for not warning of a terrorist incident,  and stops them having to put in threat specific information.
The travelling public complain about the most trivial things  :wall    like not being warned their kid could get incinerated in a bombing!
The only incidents I dealt with on a regular basis were RTAs.  The standard of driving is so poor it has to be seen to be believed.  That's your main chance of coming to grief :'(
Have a great trip  :rollin Confusedun

We will be going straight along the Garden route to Knysna which is my favorite place on the SA coast, any more help just shout

I did make it and had a fab time - although rather a fleeting visit. What an amazing place. Flew in on Thursday morning and flew out early Sunday morning. Went to the Waterfront on Thursday and saw this youth band performing http://www.smyle.co.za/ in the ampthitheatre. Visited Boulders Beach and saw the penguins. Climbed up to the lighthouse at the Cape of Good Hope. Saw a baby ostrich and a baby zebra (and big ones too) Lots of sunshine, incredible views, great food and wine and got to see my favourite man before Christmas. All good  Big Grin    Really looking forward to going back when I have more time and exploring further afield.
Although it is startling how much mess 2 teenagers can make in a house over only 5 days. The only plus point was that the dishwasher had been stacked and put on (I know this because it was still warm  :lol )

my brother in law is South African and keeps going on bout how nice the place is, I thought about it as a honeymoon destination when/if I eventually get re married, question is it worth it? want others opinions as only have his POV bigging it up!
