Rim tape/stripes
#1
Ey up,

I have a Blue gen 1 thou.

I like the look of wheel stripes, rim tape whatever you want to call it.

Couple of months ago I bought some white reflective tape in an applicator. I tried for a good while but couldn't use the damn thing then basically saw my @rse and screwed it up and chucked it in the bin!

Any hints tips experiences to help me have another go at doing this?

I've seen the curved ones but am I just gonna get mad again?!?!

It was that bad I'd bloody pay for someone to do it!!

I put some curved ones on mine, they were abit tricky to apply but they were thick enough for me to use the lip of the wheel as a guide. The only advice I can really offer is be patient and make sure you give your wheels a good clean before you start, that way you only have to do them once.

The curved ones are the simplest to apply, but even those take time to get right.
Do them in the warm or at least a little heat from a hair dryer as it stops them being brittle.

Had mine on for 2 years or more and they just had started to look tatty so I tried removing them. BIG mistake LOL they are a nightmare to get off. Just ask deefer LOL as it was there for a service and he said it would take 2 mins with a heat gun..... An hour later and the air blue he wished he had kept his mouth shut LOL

Just thought, if you take the wheels off the bike they might be abit easier to work with. Think I might renew mine next summer but I've got a growing list of more important jobs to do before I think about aesthetics.

I'll have a go with the pre formed one this time I think. With the wheels off it sould be a lot easier too!
