I've got a 2009 Street Triple R as my 'second bike'. I bought it because I fancied something lighter and easier to squeeze through London rush hour traffic on. It's become my 'first bike' because although it's not got the top end or the motorway mile munching comfort of the gen 1, or the practicality, it is so much more fun, and seems to have more leg room than the gen 1. It's a cracking bike that being so much fun to riding, and looks cool too (well, eye of the beholder etc but most agree they're pretty). Unless it turns out to be too small for your height, one test ride usually sells them.

Thing is, I ride the STR so much now I'm thinking I should just move the gen 1 on...

Tex, make sure you start a separate thread when it arrives with plenty of pics and a comprehensive description of how it goes. Please.

Love it, looks really clean.

Brings back memories of being embarrassed by one of these trying to catch it through traffic on a GPZ1000RX.

How much was it Tex ?

Tex, that is a beauty. Jealous as feck fella.

I had an XL250S years back 'cos I wanted to be different and lose my mates in the twisties. Loved it to bits until a mate of mine got one of these - he left us all for dead. I tried to get one but just couldn't get the cash together. Best I got was a ride on my mates one which went like stink when it was on the pipe.

Have fun fella.

Street triple is an ace bike. I'm 6"2 and comfortable enough.  Surprising grunt for around town and great fun using full throttle and letting it scream knowing that it does not mean prison speeds.  Handling is sublime and very light.  I would recommend them to anyone.  I've just swapped mine or a twin for bit more grunt, but not because the street was lacking, just time for a change.

I'm a big Moto Guzzi fan so for me if I was to get a second bike it would be the V7 as I don't really need another fast bike because I have the fazer, so the V7 would be a sunday afternoon bike bumbling around on......stunning looking thing so it is.....

There is currently not another bike I want to try more. After umming and ahhing for so long, the heart & head are now finally in agreement. There are many other bikes I'd like to try, and hopefully I'll one day get around to them, but the Triumph is the only one I'm thinking about now. It will have to wait til after my move now, but it's as good as a done deal.

Nice TDR rex, a fast yellow one too! (ok, so it's mostly black, but yellow is such a powerful colour, it overrides everything else  :lol  ).

Given this a lot of thought Nick and decided you need a cracking all rounder......just like the one below, the MV Augusta Brutale 800RR. Took me a while to decide this  Big Grin

Looks like a nice one, with all the right mods. Daytona forks is interesting. I'd be going for an R model, but my budget limit will be around £5k unfortunately, but some nice ones about within, or sometimes just slightly over that. I've decided against buying one right now though, because I'm hardly getting out on the Fazer through winter, so it doesn't seem worthwhile to buy another bike now, just to stash it in the garage until spring, plus the aggro of moving two bikes (and car etc) up north when I go. There was a nice one fairly locally to me recently; black R, with Arrow cans like your mate's one but otherwise pretty standard, for £5.3k, which I might have stretched to, but £5.6k is pushing a little too high for me. My thinking is £5k, plus maybe a couple of hundred to allow for decent cans (preferably the Arrows, and as long as originals come with it too). Gotta set the limit somewhere.
