I have an '01 Boxeye and am fairly comfortable with doing about 170-190 a tank.
My riding is 7.6 miles to work and back each day, pop the choke on (so that it revs to 2.3k at idle) for the first 3 quarters of a mile, then off it goes. The following (almost) 7 miles is motorway that blends back down to a dual carriageway, at a steady 75/80mph.
The warning light comes on after about 160miles and I know I can get another 20-30 miles depending on how delicate I am throttle-wise after that.
I use the RoadTrip app on my phone and average about 50mpg over a tank, but that doesn't take into account how steady/furious my riding can be. If I didn't go over 80 and rode for a long stint I'm pretty sure I'd touch 200miles a tank, but really, who has the time to worry about the intricies of all that.
I'm off on a biking holiday with my brother round Wales from Sat 26th for the week, so I'll record mileage for full days in the saddle and report back. See how much of a difference it is when I'm not just travelling for 7-8 miles at a time.
