Status report. - the Renthals, posh levers & switchgear are fitted on nicely & the bike is beginning to take shape.
But the bars & bling look the shizny!!!! 8)
No more piccies though as im keeping the end a surprise, oh we all love a good surprise!!!! , & piccies!!! :photo
Another plus. - my handlebar right lock stop isnt knackered, it was just the old bars were so bent.so foc ye on that one.makes me more confident that theres no secret fork damage as the bars pretty much absorbed the force with their bendy shock absorbing qualities.

Not long now until my bike is back on the road .I've tinkered about with it for quite a while now & the longer i go without riding it the more nervous i get.I just hope there's no surprises with the engine or the carbs being gunked up or anything falling apart. :\
The most time consuming job now will be the garage fixing up my wiring to my lights as ive gone with a single headlight unit, i'll drop the bike off on Monday but i've got a feeling with the garages down here being the way they are that it will be with them for a few weeks & that takes me into Mid October so i really hope i get a decent ride out before winter strikes again.
I've got a little carried away with the bling i must say 8) , it wont be to everyones taste but whilst i was at it i wanted to make it a little unique & not to have that bare minimum just crashed look to it.
Plus i've got some little mods that will be an upgrade to handling & make the whole thing a little bit worthwhile, like dropping the yokes 10mm & my Renthal 758 handlebars. Also looking forward to seeing how she handles after getting the swingarm bearings, pins & sleeves replaced prior to my crash.
All in all im a happy chappy but i just need to eek out the sun a bit & get out there & hope to be blasting through the Welsh hills soon. 8) , My knee has almost healed up, still tendon damage & my finger is glove capable so good to go personally.
Pics to follow in due course after the styling has been finished off.

Bikers nerves now officially outta the way :thumbup
Assembled the bike ready to go to the garage, engine fired up on the button, been out for a slow test ride to make sure things didnt fall off (me included).
I dont know what is responsible or whether it's a combination of the mods but the bikes handling feels foccin sweet, real sharp, & that's taking it easy.it could be dropping the yokes & the handlebars together with the new swingarm bearings but whatever it is i'm impressed. 8) ,best it's ever been, i feel like the Gillette man!
Just gotta get it to the garage & drop-off now, i mean er....leave it with them!

& while i'm at it i actually love the boxeye look & i orefer a bike with a fairing i really do.....but i kid yous not there was less wind blast today without the fairing :rolleyes ,
Seriously!, im no small foccer & the fairing was just directing the wind onto my chest & head but i never knew that til today,i went up to 90mph & still wasnt uncomfortable.

Ye, I found that when having a go of a friends Z1000. No fairing and there felt like less wind blast than on my foxeye fazer... weird.. Glad you've got back on again and still enjoying yourself 8)
Chris
It wouldn't be fun if it was easy, I just wish it wasn't this much fun.

This could be of interest Deadeye - speed up to 90 yesterday.....forgot to even think about it but no noticeable buzz through the renthals & thats just with the renthal bar end plugs which weigh about a quarter of the original weights.

Mine were a nightmare, buzzy as hell, but thats not the fault of the bars...
Ended up buying some bar end weights and using Rawlplug trick to attach them - bars are much better now. There is still some buzziness at the top of the rev range so sat on the motorway does make my hands and feet go numb after a while. On the A roads it hasn't been much of an issue so the vibrations must be around the 6-7k mark primarily
In any case, its an engine problem and the engine is going to be replaced so
Way to go Nog! Looking cooooooool.
If you don't plan on breaking anything else off, it might even be finished while you're still young enough to ride it :lol
If those are LED indicators on the front, somebody correct me if I'm wrong but you'll have to fit same on rear with resistors to get the flash rate right. The fast flash of LEDs without resistors is an MOT fail.
