The kwak will be a drifter then? I thought cbf's were supposed to be really good all round touring bikes? Whats up with the fairing bracket?
If it's broken, it's not fixed.
What bikes do you have in your garage?

Nope, its a VN800 Classic.
The CBF is a wonderful machine for touring, there's nothing at all wrong with it. It will get you and whatever you want to wherever you want to go and back, it handles perfectly, its comfy, the seat-footpeg-handlebar set up is nigh on perfect, the engine is a peach, tourquey, powerful, responsive and economical. But you never get off it after a ride and think "I love that bike", you get off it and think "We are here!". As for the Fazer, it looks like its gone over onto something soft and bent the faring bracket without marking the faring, I think that this is a common thing to happen during a bit of a spill due to the complete lack of good second hand spares, the FZS600 and the Gen 2 Fazer 1000 obviously don't suffer from this problem as Ebay is full of the bloody things. Well, ive found one, new, at nearly £200!!

I had a fairing bracket that was slightly squint. The local bike shop straightened it and i repainted it and sold it. The buyer said it was perfect. Why dont you take it to bike shop and get it heated and straightened?

That's what we are doing tomorrow.

Sorted out the fairing bracket with help from Hazel my favourite crowbar (see the Italian Job film). Removed the faring, mirrors, lights etc and found that I need 2 new fairing infill panels, both have the tabs that bolt through to the side of the fairing snapped off and the holes are broken with large repair washers doing their job. That'll be more stuff to add to the list then!

In those days plain bearings weren't as good. I seem to recall the gsx 550 has a soft top end and electrical issues.. Also was it not a 16" front wheel? I never had it long enough to find out, some bastard nicked it. I did have a moment on the GSX that's stayed with me, I was once out riding it and everything must have been just perfect for 2/3 minutes it was like riding in a bubble everything went silky smooth and silent, a very strange experience one that I've never had since, weird!!

Just as well they stole it... They would have had to deal with all the electrical issues they had! :lol

First glance I thought it was an early Mazda 323, RX2 or Capella but the filler cap is on the wrong side. Or a Nissan 200B :lol
Some say that he eats habanero chilli peppers dipped in oil of capsaicin for extra bite and that his pyjamas are made from Nomex. All we know is, he's called Ad the Bad

54 plate gen 1 Thou and a street triple r.
I'm thinking about swapping the FZS for an XJR1300 though, fancy a change and think the XJRS look great in the blue or yellow speedblock paint. Will be more bird friendly too I hope.

[/quote] I didn't say I don't have a bike; just that I don't have one in my garage at the moment. It's gone on holiday for a bit. But it's sad to walk into the garage and there's no bike there. Very empty. Even when it's pissing down with rain, you go into your garage, and there it is, a promise of sunny days to come. |
