R1 front end

I got a reply from the chinese company selling the r1 front wheel. They are NOT genuine Yamaha, so won't be touching with a barge pole! Damn. That's why they were so cheap :'( Regarding yoke offset how can i find out what each model years yoke offset is? I'm trying to find out if 02-03 is same as 07-08.

I am now going to jump up and down with joy! The offset is the same for the 5pw LSL top yoke and the 4c8 yokes and forks i will be acquiring in the next few weeks

Sure the forks are the same size chap?

I've been told by several people the diameter of top and bottom yokes is the same. Stanchion (chrome bit) Varies though.

all yams are 50/54 mm

Got my front end at a great price. Using lsl top yoke from 02-03 model, as offset the same. Decided to sell the top yoke as i don't need it. It turns out the forks i have aren't 4c8 model but the later 14b (2009-2011) Only difference is longer tube length (19mm) and spring rate is slightly softer 920 kg/mm compared to 950kg/mm. Still need to get wheel and discs...

Nick, got your PMs but been away for a few days.  I think you'll be very happy with the later model forks you've acquired.  They're longer than any of the other R1 options available which is a good thing.  The spring rate will be very close to ideal for your weight, I suspect.

Cutting a looong story short i have actually got the 4c8 (2008) model, but the top yoke confused me as its the better looking 14b model. i phoned the guy i bought them from and he said it was changed because it looked better than the plain original. Apparently a few people have done it on R1 forums. Pity i can't use it!

Bought wheel with discs from US of A at a good price, so only need mudguard and wheel spindle. May still need a justy spacer from luke, but have a spacer from Mike, which i may be able to modify to suit.

its off a 2003 R1, but its the same as the 08 R1

Got charged £25 vat charges. No customs duty charges as wheel and discs cost less than £134 (The limit before charges incur) Carbon front mudguard hopefully on way also. I think that's everything....

Bike shop have been in touch about fitting the fazer steering stem to my '03 R1 lower yoke. They say that the steering stem is 0.3mm to small to make a good fit. Anybody have any idea how to solve?

Not a job for an ordinary bike shop, disappointed that they threw the problem back to you for ideas, though.  Find a good engineering workshop and they'll solve this for you in no time.

Thanks guys for the replies . Getting there... Wheel and discs arrived today and very pleased, as i saved over £100 buying in UK and that includes the £25 vat charge.Waiting on a powerbronze carbon front mudguard arriving that was on ebay. I offered payment as a gift for a reduced cost, which the guy was happy with. Just need to get the steering stem issue dealt with and the spacers Mike gave me sorted and hopefully that should be everything....Famous last words :rollin Time for a glass of nice vino.. Think i might have a Spanish one
