Sold my 02 gen1 fazer 1000 with 5000miles for around £2000 back in year 2008 If an old 04 gen1 is worth £3800 then my 08 gen2 must be worth £6000....

My bike has all the worthwhile mods but has 43,000 on the clock and looks as tatty as a tatty thing. But goes so well and is fast as fook. Always surprising mates on their big 1400 sports tourers. What's it worth, bugger all but massive smiles for me

Been looking on Ebay etc and the price of FZS 1000 just seem to getting higher.
It seems it is being driven by dealers and bike shops pushing up the prices on all bikes. One dealer has described the FZS 1000 as a "future classic " so hopefully we are sitting on money in the bank?

I'm going to build a barn out of old pallets :lol

When you own one, it's worth next to nothing. They're completely valueless once the second big valve service is due.
When you're looking to buy one, it's 'a future classic' and worth two or three times as much. Either that or they are 'too old for the showroom' and broken on ebay. Despite a few people saying they'll go up in value I fear think they might be similar to early Honda VFRs: pundits argued that as a great bike they would inevitably balloon in value and yet to date they haven't

I know it’s not the 1K Fazer but a lot of the older FZS600’s are dropping in value because of the pollution restrictions in London, those same restrictions are being talked about that might effect other cities. If it starts to become the norm will it then be introduced to larger towns as well as cities?.
Could be a way for government to get all the older cars and motorcycles off the road. If you can not ride your bike into towns or cities your future classic is not worth very much, except as a show piece and I feel there will be lots of them. :'(

I have to say this anti pollution thing is just away for cities to just make more money with out any actual effort.
I don't live in or anywhere near London, but have to say I am concerned about the future for normal working people, this is just yet another tax on the working class. Most people just can not afford to upgrade, I don't believe it has been thought through. Rant over. The price of older bikes just seems to be getting higher with the price of new bikes just getting beyond the reach most people. Is there a future for " classic bikes " ? Will the FZS 1000 be on the list. ?
me and dave (Dynspud) had this conversation out on the thous the other day. To both of its pretty much irrelevant whether they go up in value or not. We'll always keep them ...its not just not worth selling them really. If I got another bike id just run it alongside the fazer..err which is what I do. there is nothing out there that is the brilliant bike that they are, not jus for the two grand or so mines worth, but for three or four times that too.

Could PCP finance have something to do with the lack of choice by the owners either returning to the dealers and another PCP bike or paying a big lump of finance off and keeping the bike. leaving dealers in control of late model second hand bikes coming onto the market.

An impossible to a answer question! The individuals priorities play the biggest part! Having worked in several factories in my life as a mechanical engineer working with large workforce's, peoples personal attitude on vehicles play the biggest part in their purchase value. You get the "I only payed x for a machine on a whatever PLATE! This means nothing and is a worthless sentence. The last Gen1 Fazers are nearing 14 years old thus condition is everything! I know people who are overjoyed at getting one for £1800 with pretty high mileage, but dinged exhaust, split fairing, crap pattern mirrors that shake themselves to death, split fairing inlays, pattern indicators, marked bodywork, savage rust on frame and fixings and almost no service history but firmly believe they have a bargain because their priority was totally minimal spend, there is no right or wrong. My 05 registered bike was the BEST I could find at the time about 18 months ago, after looking for about a year, condition/history/mileage was my priority. If I had found a one owner original bike, good history with say 3000 summer only miles I would happily have paid £5000 for it. Remember we have all went to look at the blind mans minter! There are plenty of run of the mill bikes out there, genuine minters will only become harder to find. P.S. There a four Gen 1 Fazers where I work now. A clever workforce!
If at first you don't succeed, pull your foreskin ower yer heid!
