Yeah, that material looks very much like the Oxford Blanket that I use to protect the paintwork when I have my tankbag/tailpack on the rear seat. Good stuff, works well. I thought it might degrade as we had a few come back that appeared to have "melted" in the packaging, but I've had no problems so far.
Sometimes, it's not such a great thing working in a returns department, as you tend to get suspicious of everything!  :\
