Was a decent ride yesterday started at Inverness working our way up the middle of Scotland a836 I think not that it was actually an a road (wasn't a B road either it had passing places) it did have stunning views too literally seen 3 cars on the whole stretch of road. We went though Lairg, tounge then to dunnet head and onto our final destination John O groats which was fresh to say the least.

Aye theres a few roads up there that are single track and still classed as A roads..  :eek  would love to be up that way right now.. loving the pics tho

You mention Tongue.. I bought the wife an " I LOVE TONGUE tee shirt from there years back.. she refused to wear it in public for some strange reason.. She was bloody lucky I couldn't by myself one from a place we visited on Orkney.. a nice little village called TWATT.. ( Passed a nice place in Ireland called MUFF too, wonder if they have Tee's)

I laid my fzs1000 down at tongue while trying to turn round.....lost footing on loose gravel Sad  had to ride back to inverness on that road with no brake lever!!!!!!! I had done john o groats---dunnet head---tongue and wanted to get to the furthest north west point before heading south, so that is still on my 'to do' list.....maybe this summer?

Esetest, go, you'll love it. But do take a good midgie repellant, especially if you're going in August - they really can be a serious pain. If you forget it, don't be affronted if you go in a shop up there and they recommend Avon Skin-So-Soft - it really does work, and you don't go round smelling like a chemicals factory! I don't know what those who really know think, but I'm guessing they might not be at their worst this year because of the long winter?

Yip, I would say you were very lucky with the midges. They have just appeared here in the last 2 days so it's skin so soft twice a day for me now, unless its windy.
Glad you enjoyed your trip and the weather was superb, lucky man. Shame you blasted through to Hamilton first off as you missed out on some super roads very close to the motorway, time is a bummer when the weather is so good  Sad
Better to stand and look a fool than speak and prove it !
If it aint broke, I'll fix it till it is !!
