Just a thought-do you know if/when plugs were changed before you bought bike? Follow your list but if they look past their best just change them-You have to have a start point for your maintenance schedule.
Regarding fuel--modern unleaded goes "off" fairly rapidly(sometimes in a matter of weeks) so becomes harder to ignite once more volatile fractions have evaporated or whatever. Its all very well draining float bowls of carbs BUT if you have water in your fuel tank resulting from long standing/lack of use/water ingress through poor tank filler cap seal, it is probably wise to drain the tank completely. I had similar probs on my thou back in February, all sorted now. :lol Just be methodical & you will get there. Good luck.
While you've got the tank off, open the little black box at the top of the engine at the front - all the connections from the handlebar switched are in there. Have a good close look at them, looking for any connectors that have corroded, gone green etc. A good squirt of WD40 in each one and reconnect them will eliminate any moisture.

Haha, fine by me - I enjoy a good old natter. Did you know buying ladies motorcycle clothing is a total pain in the backside?!
Back to subject matter though. Yesterday was a nice day, and after work I hopped on and rode home no problem - bike is sounding nice once again. And same this morning, wheeled her out of bed and she sounded sweet from the first try. So yeah, it looks like water is the culprit.
No rain planned today, so hopefully it keeps riding nice, until I get a chance to strip it down tomorrow.
We had a cup final last night, and I turned up to the dressing room, looked in my kit bag and what do I see? My missus's work shoes (heels) - I think she's trying to tell me something.
