Ok, cool. I'm 16 stone and 6'5" so a little bigger than the average rider I would suspect. Like you say though, I'll ride it as is and see if I can work out if I need it adjusting over time.

Judging from the picture on the other thread, his bike won't have adjustable front forks?

If its an 00-01, as it says on his profile, then it should have the adjusters, if it doesn't then that's an indication that someone has replaced them.
For 16 stone I'd probably suggest increasing the pre-load on the rear to between 2-4 clicks from the stiffest setting depending on your preference. I was knocking on 20 stone at one point so had it at 1 down from the stiffest. Since then, I've dropped to about 14.5 stone and it feels as though I should probably change it down a click or two (its current on 3 down from stiffest I think) But as darrsi said, this is down to personal preference. Just giving you an idea of what setup I use ![]()

Was going off the colour - thought the single colour scheme was stopped for 2000 on, but looking at the differences page, I see that the plain black did continue through. Not surprising really, since it's the fastest colour

Yeah, 00/01 has adjusters..........apart from my bike, i put 98/99 forks on when i had my braking issues, and tarted up my original one's and stupidly sold them, rather than change them back. :'(
I'm 16 stone too, unfortunately not your height though ( :rolleyes ), and i've changed the fork oil for 15w instead of standard 10w oil. I get a much better feel out of the front being a bit firmer, so maybe that's something to consider in the future if you find the forks a bit too bouncy.

hightowers intro thread, http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php/topic,7789.0.html picture of his bike a few posts down.
As I said, I thought the all-black colour scheme vanished in 2000, so that his bike was probably a 1999, albeit possibly registered in 2000. Having checked the differences thread, I realise the all-black did run on after '99.

Oh i seeeee.
![]() You should've asked, mine's a 2000, and totally black :lol

@hightower, you may wanna invest in one of these if you haven't already, they're a very good piece of kit in the rain.

It'll give a very slight increase in noise, a much better breathing feel to the bike, no maintenance for an apparent 50,000 miles, and it'll be the last one you ever buy for your bike.
Yeah, it's a good thing........ Stay away from cheap air filters, they are very ill fitting compared to a K&N, and nowhere near as good.

i would recomend making an excel spreadsheet to record what your doing and when and how much it cost's. Maybe also make one to track your fuel costs and mpg also.
It'll give you a really good idea of how much your spending and what your bike is really costing you.

I had to make an engine simulation model and a top speed calculator in excel this year. a 3rd year student has made a full data logging analysis program using excel.

I rather think Slaninar was referring to the fact it would highlight how much you're spending, not suggesting it was difficult! Still, you're doing engineering, so you're not expected to be that good at the nuances of the English language and humour :pokefun Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2 |
