Totally agree. Drop the "U". Detracts from an otherwise good club.
why fazer owners club unofficial?

Why does it detract?? Its just a bit of fun, lighten up FFS. Its only the name of a forum on the internet,Im sure the name doesnt affect your way of life one little bit!

wow. was just goin to sleep and thought i had answered all posts i had made and sent pm's to tidy things up and just saw this thread and remembered that i had posted originally. so i feel i must answer with depth and clarity underlined with a true understanding of any lega precident regarding internet forums and branding so that i will not ellicit any undue reposte. so here goes...... :foc g'night foccers ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ BBBRRRRRR!!!
Just flapping about on this stagnant little pond on the outer rim of the internet.....yup.... :-))

(fart!!)
ps WE DO NOT USE ANY BRANDING RELATING TO YAMAHA OTHER THAN THE WORD FAZER AND THE MISMATCHED PICTURE ON TOP UR SCREENS SO WE DO NOT NEED TO USE THE WORD UNOFFICIAL. we can say "dosnt matter what the site is called as long as we have net comms with echother" or we can say individualy "i am not bothered" but what about foc-uk?????or just FOCCERS?? or just quite simply "fazer owners club" whatever.... i just want to know from a legal standpoint ..if there is one...why we have unofficial stamped on the end of what is otherwise a very good forum. help me out forum mods. do we(the people that post and make this forum what it is have the power to change it without any legal comeback. a definitive answer would be great.

I don't think it has any legal bearing at all. I think the only time you might get problems is when you claim it's Yamaha backed and it's not.
Loads of others have the make/model name but don't state unofficial.

10 yrs ago the foc -u membership was a bit younger ...so the initials were met with mirth rather than morality !... a touch of tongue in cheek rebellion too...
this country as a whole tended to be a more fun place too back then ...sign of the times. :\

I don't see how it detracts at all. It hasn't stopped this being the most active fazer forum that I'm aware of, certainly this side of the pond.
If somebody is offended, it's not by the "u" bit, its the "foc", and as others have pointed out, it's their own mind that is doing that. And there is nothing that says anybody has any right to exist, without being offended in any case. I vote to leave well alone. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk 2

If nothing else it should stay as is cos the web address has been used in this form for ages.

Can't remember if the 'unofficial' was chosen to distinguish it from a Yamaha-linked club or whether it was just added to made the initials a bit racey. It wasn't because of legal reasons although it is true there was a complaint from Yam in the early days as the club was using the tuning forks logo.
As fazed600 says above we're kinda stuck with the name as [nobbc]www.foc.anything are all taken and www.fazerownersclub.co.uk is not snappy like foc-u.co.uk. And it does suit the club's personality:- irreverent / time off from an otherwise responsible life.[/nobbc] ![]()

Hummm interesting this .. seems to be a good mix of feelings about this little 'U' jobby.
If we read them all .. there are those who think the 'U' is totally unnecessary and probably seen as offensive to most 'outside' readers. Well .. I for one think it is unnecessary and I try hard to avoid using it in conversation .. I'd bet good money that many more of you do the same too. Saying F*** You is out of order in any form. There are those who say 'It's just a Name for a Club so it's no big deal'. Well if it is 'just a name' I can't see why it can't be changed .. the 'Club' is the members and it will remain the same no matter what its called. Change it so that we have nothing being given out verbally or in writing to offend anyone .. in particular possible new members who may do a 180 when they read the current title! We also have one or two individual opinions .. I really like Lord Jon's gem: 'The whole country is not such a fun place these days'. It's not just the UK Jon .. same down my end and right across Europe I recon. So if Europe is not so happy .. I don't think saying FOC-U to everyone out there is going to cheer anyone up one little bit. Are we all B for Bikers .. or bloody DDDHY (disrespectful, disinterested, destructive Hoody Yobbos!) I'm sure we have enough creative talent in here to come up with a good name that meets all the criteria .. Association of Fazer Riders + AFR International Fazer Riders Society = IFRS Best on the Road Owners Club = BROC and so on .. Stay Safe People ![]()

May i humbly say, I have often thought would there be a day where the club name moved from fazer, I have never owned a Fazer and came to here through a link in the Hornet nest. I have found though that bikers who have chosen Fazers do the events I enjoy and have been made welcome to.
But as many of you have moved onto other bikes are there now more others than fazers? OOC-U others owners club, well its not offensive :lol

I like the play on words. I don't think many would be offended when you see so much worse on the High street. French Connection UK springs to mind?
For what it's worth, I don't find FCUK offensive, just another play on words. I must admit I don't like to see bad language on bumper stickers or on T-shirts but Hey Ho.
