fazer fzs 600 1999
#21
This has helped me in the past with gearing conundrums... Hope it helps Smile

http://www.gearingcommander.com/ Just whack in the make model and year of the bike, choose mph or kmh and away you go

P.s. mine will do an indicated 150, which on the dyno translated to 144.8 mph

has anybody noticed the obvious question (s) not asked as yet ? like are you a ballet dancer or a 5 ton porker ? are you 2 foot 8 inch tall or a team player for the harlem globetrotters? all effects the power to weight theories / drag.also the obvious rev difference when idle and `under load`.

I would laugh hard if he said he was 6' 8" and 37 stone  :rollin :rollin :rollin

No offence Gordon  :lol

I agree with you Ade, but surely a drop of nearly 1k in RPM  points to gearing being molested? My bike has std gearing and sits bang on 6k @ 70mph. I'm 5'1" and 85kgs BTW! Wink

ANY bike in top gear should actually be showing less revs than the speed. So at 50, revs should be about 4k, at 60, revs should be about 5k, at 80, revs should be about 7k.

That's because your sixth gear is like an overdrive - the ratio is probably about 0.8:1 whereas fifth gear is likely 1:1.

You've not got a missing sixth gear have you?  :lol :rollin :lol

Am I being stupid?  :rolleyes

Probably, but why would the riders size or weight have anything to do with how many revs a bike pulls at a given speed? Surely it's a direct ratio of gearbox rpm to wheel rpm. Wheel or tyre size wouldn't make any indicated difference as the speedo measures wheel rotation.

Must be a sprocket change to do this.

If you are talking about top end speed then I'll get my coat. :lol

I agree, nothing to do with power to weight unless of course you are so fat/un-aerodynamic that you make the clutch slip - THEN the RPM would be different Wink

The difference in weight / size would increase drag and decrease acceleration if anything, but shouldn't affect the RPM vs Speed - pretty sure you aren't going mad as this is what I think as well...

Before picking up my 02 foxeye fzs 600 I read the MCN review.. I am sure its been mentioned on here, but states clearly in black and white 130 miles to a tank  :eek ... I know they can drink a bit when ridden hard but just back from 160 miler n still showin a third full on guage and could only fit in £15.00 @ £1.26 per litre..
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...

Yeah, I picked this up - they can't do maths either Wink

It shows the tank size and the average MPG which add up pretty close, but the range is completely wrong Tongue
