1) I put the bike in gear and rotated the back wheel to move the cams, saves taking the engine cover off.
2) Most people tend to find that all the valves are within tolerance, some will re-shim to get them more in the middle of the range, others just don't bother checking because they hardly need touching.
3) Read the FAQ for the correct tolerances, some sources don't have the correct ones.
4) The Haynes manual says you need to remove the carbs - you don't !!
