Have you done anything about it, like changing whatever model of tyre it is?
On a side note, the noise you're describing can also occur if you do any adjustment at all to your rear wheel.
If the wheel is aligned differently by the smallest of margins the chain can rub against the plastic chain guide causing the noise you're talking about.
It goes away once it's settled down after a few weeks and has cut a new path, but it can sound fairly loud and annoying for a while, but wll also take you by surprise if you weren't expecting it.
This noise is especially common for a while if you've purchased and fitted a wider/heavier duty chain than before, or for whatever reason replaced the plastic chain guide.
Your "zip line ride" noise description is pretty much spot on as a comparison.
