Well, it's running again after leaving the battery on charge again overnight, although it was a bit sluggish to start with, so maybe the battery is ok and I don't have to take it out again for replacement.
The oil level is fine and the new coolant only needed a slight top-up.
I did find I needed to tweak the idle up a bit which was a bit tricky to do, because I wanted to keep the revs up to stop it dying with the low idle (just in case it wouldn't restart) and it was a bit tricky trying a) hold the throttle open a little, b) get the screwdriver handle out of the toolkit, c) maintain the revs whilst putting a Philips head on it and d) get it into the adjuster screw under the tank whilst holding a light in my teeth so I could see it...!
I had also planned to balance the throttle bodies, but next door had just put her washing and I thought it would be impolite to leave the clothes smelling of exhaust fumes, so I may do that tomorrow.
