Hi everyone, nearly 20 months on from my "incident". Still recovering, and becoming quite obvious that injuries and side effects like to hang around, and even new aches and pains are coming out of the woodwork to take an unwelcome pop at me for fun value.
Having nerve issues with my leg right now, it can randomly feel like it's on fire for 20 to 30mins at a time then just stop as quickly as it starts. It's highly annoying though as i spend all day on my feet at work so can become irritating and tiresome, and meds will only last a few hours before it all starts again with a vengeance.
Still suffering with nerve damage in my hand too, albeit nowhere near as bad as the early days of my injuries.
But on the plus side a Neurologist read my injury report and said she deal's with people with lesser injuries than i had who have never even made it back to work, so whatever i'm doing i need to carry on because i'm doing it right!
On that note last week i decided to put the new shorter levers back on the bike as the OEM ones just weren't behaving like they're meant to.
What i worked out was happening was because my hand hurts most of the time i was pulling the clutch lever more at the lower end near the cable. Not only was this causing crunchy gear changing, but it was hurting my hand too. On the outer side of the lever where you'd normally grab it seemed just a tad too far away for my fingers to comfortably grab onto the lever so my hand went for the nearer part of the lever instead, which was just not the right thing to do.
So almost immediately after refitting the short levers, which i tried before but couldn't get on with them, everything suddenly felt better, and gear changing became easy again.
Looking forward to the approaching warmer weather to finally hit us soon to aid with my recovery as even with heated grips and new gloves the colder weather really doesn't help matters as i leave at 7am for work when it has been a bit nippy on the fingers.
