Its listed as 'Cat N' which is one of the lowest categories afaik. N is cosmetics and looking at the images more closely I can see the following -
- left hand non-oem fairing panel is held on with a cable tie to the left side of the tank
- the same panel has what looks like a small crack in the fairing lower down (to the left hand side of the rad.)
- there is a sticker on the tank stating the igintion wires have been tamped with.
- l/h mirror has a scuff on the stem? more likely just corrosion.
- front indicators are wonkey, probably already like this.
So the only item on that list that has any kind of expense is the ignition, if its just a few broken wires this is an easy fix. If the barrel needs to be replaced then buy a used lock set that included the red master key and then pay £350 for an auto locksmith or a yamaha dealer to link the keys to the ECU. What 4D will have done it quoted for all new parts, in this instance, so very likely the "MAIN SW. IMMOBILIZER KIT, 2D1W825020" which costs an insane £1331 - https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/view/2D1W825020. Had a 5 second look on ebay and boom, found 2x complete Main sw and Immobilizer sets (barrles, keys (inc master) and ECU) for £295 - https://shorturl.at/FsEhu an
So just for sh*ts and giggles, let do some napkin maths:
So lets say the owner got paid £2500 (https://shorturl.at/oZtIt), the insurance sold the bike to 4D for £1000? and prolly paid 4D for a loan bike and recovery costs, so the ins are out of pocket £1500-2000 at this point. Who ever was the ins. assesor was, they need shooting.
And currently the auction is at £1160, so will prolly sell for £1500. so 4D have made £500 on the sale of the bike minus the inspection and transport costs. So if you add that to the loan bike and transport costs they charged the ins. co, 4D have made maybe £1000 on this bike..?
Maybe the owner maybe was savvy and realised that the bike is gettinbg old and harder to find parts for(but my quick search on ebay would suggest they were not, at all). I only found 42 FZ1's for sale on autotrader in the whole of the UK.
