It's worth persevering with the R6 shock, with the right spring for your weight it'll have far more useful adjustability than a standard YSS shock.
It's a shock between 2008 and 2016.
The "problem" is that the R6 spring is about 6.5 inches long (when removed) but virtually all aftermarket spring manufacturers make them in 1 inch increments i.e. 5 inch long spring, 6 inch spring, 7 inch spring etc. Ten years ago, when I was making these up for 600 owners I used a 6" Faukners spring from Demon Tweeks (cheapest) plus a 13mm thick alloy spacer on top. The spacer allowed the correct amount of spring preload, without it you couldn't get the spring into the correct preload range.
There are charts online which show Ohlins spring dimensions: hopefully it'll show the spring's length too.
I *think* K-tech might be the only other manufacturer who do the replacement R6 springs the right length.
Let us know your weight & I will find the correct spring rate for you (providing you don't take a pillion all the time).
