I'm thinking of taking a longer look at the wiring diagram and working out what is required to "upgrade" to a lights on all the time setup. (i.e. 2003 onwards) I don't particularly like the idea but at least the simpler demands of the ignition switch would make the chances of finding an aftermarket one more likely. :\
