Hi Julius & welcome matey :thumbup
Re: The fuelling post.
This guys claims may or may not improve things above stock jetting?
It's his opinions after all.
Re: Ivans MB kit.
I don't profess to be any kind of expert on these Ivans kits, hence I did a lot of research on here & away from this site before tackling these mods.
Mike aka (Falcon 269) is your man for reliable info, he's fitted shit loads of these kits, plus he's a genuine bloke & freely offers his advice.
I can personally vouch that this kit does what it claims, my bike's a missile & fuelling is good from idle-redline, even better than my injected VFR800Fi.
Info available is Ivan has spent a good few hrs testing needle profiles, jet configurations, dyno runs etc to get this MB kit to where it is.
We live in the real world, imho Ivans MB kit is defo worth the expense & effort to install it, you just need to test idle/mixture screw settings, I found the recommended turns out to be too rich, lumpy erratic idle & very sooty tailpipe, clearly too rich, I did drill the 2 recommended holes in the carbs, since found out 1 hole drilled is adequate, this would account for the excessively rich idle setting, that I've since altered & settled on 3.5 turns out, I've had a bad experience with a Pipercross air filters (bits come adrift) quality is crap at best, foam filters are useless, plus you can't clean it properly, even with Pipercross's so called cleaning kit solution spray, it's a shit filter & even shitter cleaning kit.
In summary:
Clean/lube & set Exup up correctly, install an MB kit, port out the carb inlet rubbers, modify the airbox lid, some kinda sports slip on exhaust can & you'll gain a good few extra BHP & a bike that has drivability from low rpm-redline, fuel consumption's not that bad either, unless you ring it's neck everywhere, then you'd expect regular stops at a gas station.
Time & money well spent, just read up on it, watch youtube vids, buy a carb O'ring service kit, some JIS drivers & a pin vice drill bit holder & you're good to go.
Personally I avoid using E10 gas, mine only ever sees E5 BP Ultima or E5 Shell Nitro fuel, aint cheap, the old girl seems to like it, I can't source Ethanol free, seems it doesn't exist in the Uk, plus the odd glug of Dipetane every other full up.
Have fun ?
