I’ve had a few VFRs, probably preferred the later 750 over the 800 but not much in it. The bars can be sorted, I had small risers which helped but helibars and LSL straight var conversions were also available https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195540016309?...media=COPY
They’re definitely a well put together bike, mileage isn’t really a problem for them so I’d go for the best cosmetic condition with fairings etc. Suspension is better as standard than a thou so no huge money to spend there assuming shock is OK. Brakes are a bit more complicated to service with the linked system but no major drama. Just remembered, some had issues with the clocks internal PCB due to corrosion. Normally fixable with a wire track and some lacquer.
