I wasn't planning on going out today, but last night someone posted on the Facebook Hampshire Bikers' forum that they were in need of a new FZ6 clutch cable to get them home from Fleet, however they couldn't get one delivered before Tuesday or even get to a shop until Monday.
So I remembered that I'd bought a spare that I'd not fitted and, after some messages back and forth, and noting that the forecast was for a nice sunny day, I agreed to pop up there and drop it off to them.
Firstly, though, I had to give the bike a hose down because I'd been doing some more work in the shed and forgotten to cover the bike, so, instead, it was covered in sawdust!
Anyway, it was a nice ride up there although, disappointingly, the B3349 which used to be a nice biking road has been ruined with 50mph limits and lots of double white lines, even in places where it would have been perfectly safe to overtake
I dropped the cable off to them, but, as they had only recently got the bike, ended up helping them fit it as well as making a few recommendations on how to improve the bike with useful mods, rather than the flash aftermarket pipes and heated grips that were on it
On the way back, I took the A30 to Basingstoke, then did a nice ride towards the Candovers, but cutting down Spiers lane which is very enjoyable. When I got to Alresford, rather than carrying on down the B3046, I decided to look for Old Park Road which I remembered when I'd ridden several years ago and, thankfully not only found it, but also found that it was still a nice road :thumbup
So I eventually got home a few quid better off and with 120miles under my wheels.
