I read the Merc battery article as well. It really is nuts isn’t it. I watched a programme a good six months ago, how JCB have gone such a long way with hydrogen engines, apparently only really suited to larger vehicles, heavy plant, trucks, buses etc. If I remember correctly the bottom half of their current diesel engines remained the same, and diesel mechanics would be able to do a conversion course, to work on/maintain the hydrogen engines. Haven’t heard much since.

25 years ago, I worked for a company that took the Norton Rotary engine and converted it for aviation use. One of the many offshoots of the development was a single rotor engine, coupled to a generator which ran on Hydrogen. The MD would drink the by product in front of the press whenever he got the chance. :eek
