As BBROWN1664 says the metal is fairly thin. I'm pretty sure there will also be some rust there, which will likely turn into a sparkle display as soon as you start trying to weld it. If you are a proficient welder then you will know better than me, because I am more of the weld and grind variety. If your not an expert and there is good metal there I would recommend you practice on some scrap thin metal first. Of course there is always the other option you suggested of J.B. weld!
