Had a great 300+ mile run sorted for yesterday. Met up with Mr.Crazy on his brand new 70 plate steed, for a 07:30 start. After mainly B roads we stopped for a tea and a catch up at The Chalet. The car park was filling quickly as it was WW2 vehicle day. Would have liked to have stayed longer, but after taking a few pics, it was off to breakfast in Wiltshire via the A272.
There were quite a few interesting bikes at The Haven, but after demolition our healthy options, it was back on the bikes headed for Poole Quay, the long way.
However, whilst enjoying a good stretch of road towards Shaftesbury, the mighty thou missed a beat, sorted itself out for a few hundred yards, then died altogether. The battery was totally flat, so certainly a charging issue. Handily I’d stopped by a farm gate, so could get off the road. It was now just a case of waiting for the recovery guy. When his arrival was imminent, Mr.Crazy whizzed off to enjoy what was left of the day.
The very helpful SOS recovery guy, Chris, took me to Salisbury to buy a new battery. Then with the headlight fuse removed, I whizzed home via the motorway, avoiding using the brakes and indicators as much as possible. Looks like I’m in the market for a replacement reg/rec. Any advice on where to get a reliable one at sensible money, would be gratefully received. Electrex World are my front runner at the moment.
