When I was at school we had the Combined Cadet Force and I was in the RAF section (I only joined that because it meant my parents would let me leave the Scouts!) and we had a range with .22 rifles. I also got to try a Lee Enfield .303 once and, one time, we went to an RAF range and had a go with their 7.62mm SLRs
There's a clay shooting range in Devon, not far from where I go surfing, so maybe someday I'll get down there and give it a go (Hey, I've got my own earplugs!)
